"Thermal effects in grinding" by Sridhar Kompella

The nature of grinding burn in steels and its relation to workpiece temperature has been studied in surface grinding using a new experimental approach. First, a test method called taper grinding is developed for efficiently analyzing the effects of grinding process parameters. The method is applied to study forces, residual stress, hardness, temperatures, and the onset and evolution of burn.

Effect of Milling Environment on the Breakage Rates in Dry ...

The effect of grinding additives on breakage rates is also studied. In general, breakage rates increase for coarse sizes and decrease for fine sizes with an increase in the fines present in the mill. Such variations have strong implications in closed-circuit grinding. Keywords breakage rates, milling, wet grinding, dry grinding Disciplines

Effect of wet grinding on structural properties of ball ...

In this paper, the effect of wet grinding on structural properties of ball clay is undertaken. The wet grinding treatment was performed employing ball and vibro mills for different time spells of 2, 4, 8 and 16 hours. The structural properties were carried out using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The ...

COMBINED EFFECT OF DENSIFICATION AND PRETREATMENT …

The increase in sugar yields was attributed predominantly to grinding of biomass within the pellet mill. The effects of low pressure densification following AFEX pretreatment were tested under several enzyme loadings both with and without prolonged storage. Densification had no adverse effects on ethanol yields from switchgrass or corn stover;

The effect of grinding on the acidulation of phosphate rock

An investigation was undertaken to determine the effect of grinding on the acidulation of phosphate rock. Bench-scale work was carried out in a one quart, laboratory ball mill made of stainless steel. The mill was equipped with a heating chamber so that the material could also be dried in the mill;The results from this work indicated that a normal superphosphate product suitable for commercial ...
